Man rapes neighbour's wife after quarrelling with her husband

A 38-year-old man, Tunde Bankole, has been remanded in prison by an Ogba Magistrates Court sitting in Lagos State for allegedly raping his neighbour's wife after he had a quarrel with her husband.

PM News reports that Bankole who resides with the victim's family at the True Crescent Estate in Oko-Oba area of the state, had gone on a revenge mission when he sneaked into the apartment of the neighbour after the husband had gone to work and forcefully had sexual intercourse with the 36-year-old housewife at knife point.

It was gathered that the suspect had sneaked into the victim’s apartment when her husband was not around with two kitchen knives and threatened to kill her if she refused his directives.
He reportedly ordered her to her matrimonial bed, forced her to remove her clothes and proceeded to rape her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone, before forcefully collecting her wedding ring and then left.
It was learned that when the woman's husband came home, she reported the incident to him and the matter was reported to the police at the Isokoko Division and Bankole was arrested and charged to court.
During interrogation, Bankole confessed to having carnal knowledge of the victim but insisted that it was with her consent as they were secretly dating.
However, he could not explain what he was doing with the knives he reportedly used in threatening the victim.

When he was charged to court, Bankole pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of rape and the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the like sum while ordering that he be remanded in prison custody until August 17, 2017, pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
